WHY SHOULD I BACK UP MY PRIVATE KEY?

Wind is a non-custodial wallet, which means neither Wind nor anyone except you has access to your account. This means, your private key is the only key to your wallet. Thus, losing it will result in losing your funds with it. Wind or any other entity can never recover a lost private key. As a result, it is your duty to ensure the safety and security of your private keys.

HOW CAN YOU RECOVER YOUR WIND WALLET WITH YOUR PRIVATE KEY?

Step 1: On the login/signup page click on the "Recover Wind Wallet"

Step 2: Enter the private key of the account you are willing to recover. (You can only recover Wind app accounts through the mobile app)

Step 3: After entering your private key, enter the PIN of your account you want to recover and you will be redirected to the next step.

Step 3: Then you will be asked to provide the email you want to replace to. Make sure there is no other account associated with that email address.

Step 4: Click on "confirm" if you are sure you want to replace your email address

Step 5: After clicking on "Confirm", a verification code will be sent to the provided email address.

Step 6: Upon providing the correct OTP, you will land on your account you were willing to recover.

  • After recovering an account, you will gain access to the funds you previously had in your account and all other assets in that account

  • Your previous wallet address will also be the same there

PLEASE NOTE, THAT IF YOU LOSE ACCESS TO THE PRIVATE KEY, YOU LOSE ACCESS TO YOUR ACCOUNT AND THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN RECOVER THIS.
