Find the numbers of banks that do not support sending a reference number

Updated over 3 months ago

Wind requires its users to include reference numbers when adding funds through USD bank transfers. In most cases, the reference number field is available within the banking providers' systems. However, there are instances where banking providers do not pass the reference number in the correct format. Consequently, Wind is unable to verify the transaction, and the funds are returned to the account used to make the transfer.

List of banks (always updating):

  • Bank of America

  • PNC Bank

  • DBS Singapore

If transfers are made from any of the banks with the reference number in the description field, Wind is unable to verify them; hence, they are returned to the user.

Exceptions for JP Morgan Chase:

Many transfers initiated from JP Morgan Chase bank accounts have been unmatched because users include the specified reference in the Memo field in the bank’s interface. The correct field should be Message to Recipient, where the reference number, for example, BRGVFSFBUNERRNAXXXXX, should be added. The Memo field in JP Morgan is an internal memo and not transmitted along with the wire.
